    Selling a parent's belongings from out of state

    Start with room photos, a local contact and the deadline. Agree who will handle access, buyer visits and any shipping before the work starts.

    Make a useful first overview

    Photograph each room from the doorway, then show distinctive pieces, labels and damage. A short walkthrough video can help us understand the collection. Tell us where the house is and when it must be ready.

    Keep family papers and belongings separate. Confirm who has authority to approve the selling work before anything is listed.

    Plan who does what locally

    Remote planning does not remove the need for someone at the house. For in-home consignment, you or a trusted representative normally provides access for scheduled buyers. Local buyers pay the client before an item leaves.

    Clients usually pack and ship online sales with our label, unless another arrangement is agreed. If nobody nearby can handle access or fulfillment, tell us at the start so we can assess a practical route. An estate sale has different staffing and access arrangements.

    Keep the agreement and accounting clear

    The proposal sets out the pieces, scope, rate and proposed timeline. The agreement can be signed on your phone. Agree what happens to unsold belongings and any donation or removal work before relying on a house-clearing date.

    Local buyers pay you at the door, first, and we invoice our share on Friday. When a piece sells online, the marketplace pays us and your share goes out on the first Friday after cleared funds arrive, by check or to the bank you link in your portal. Itemized either way.

    For a staffed estate sale: One itemized statement and your payment within ten business days of the sale closing.

    Bring in the right people

    Share the agreed timeline with the realtor or local representative. A service inquiry does not authorize us to contact family members or decide who owns their belongings.
